2022 Honoree Colin Fraser - Colin started his career in 1967 posting quotes as an order clerk for Pitfield MacKay Ross. On his 21st Birthday, he was offered a role as a floor trader and never looked back. In 1973, Colin did a brief stint at Canavest House before Pitfield wooed him back to manage their retail trading department. Looking to augment their operation, RBC bought Pitfield in 1984. On the day before the deal closed, Colin left for Wood Gundy. Five years later, Colin and 4 colleagues struck out on their own and started Defined Financial Institutions (DFI). As the dealer grew, it attracted the attention of Deutsche Bank who acquired the firm in 1997.

The following year Colin moved over to Scotia McLeod where he worked on the institutional desk for the next 10 years. He finished his career at Salman Partners and in 2014 announced his retirement after 47 years in the business.

Over his career Colin was elected to the IETA board on 3 separate occasions and served as its Vice President. He organized the inaugural IETA Golf Tournament which lives on to this day. He serves two terms on the board of the CSTA and Chaired the Rules Committee.

When Colin reflects on his time in the industry he is amazed by the change he saw. 'European accounts used to protect their orders by sending them to us in Morse code.'

Colin fondly remembers the 80's and 90's with a smile, when the buy-side and sell-side felt like a tightly knitted family.

2021 Honoree Rosanna Bruni - Rosanna began her career at Jones Heward as an assistant to sales and trading in 1977. As she rose through the trading ranks, she made stops at Loewen Ondaatje McCutcheon, Bunting Warburg, Gordon Securities and HSBC, where she covered both domestic and international clients. When Desjardin needed help developing their US business in early 2000, they brought in Rosanna to lead it. Then in 2005, having developed a reputation as a team builder, Rosanna was tapped by the upstart Genuity Capital Markets to head up their Montreal trading operation. Rosanna always knew she would finish her career on the buyside and in September of 2012, she crossed the street to become the head of PSP's trading desk. From the very beginning, Rosanna has been an active and supportive member of the trading community. She's been twice elected to the board of MIETA, a longstanding member of BIMA and a regular speaker at CSTA conferences. Her contributions to the community extended beyond the Canadian marketplace as she was also a board member of the US group 'Healthy Markets.'Throughout her career Rosanna has always been a champion of diversity, equity and inclusion. She has served as the co-chair of WCM's Montreal Chapter and is a member of both the 'Equity, Inclusion & Diversity' and 'Gender Affinity' committees at PSP. For almost 20 years, she served as a board member of the 'BBB Foundation' which supported many disadvantaged groups within the Montreal community. Upon reflection, she fondly remembers the tight knit group at Gordon Capital, her front seat for world events and offers the advice to 'be humble' and 'never stop learning.'

2021 Honoree Greg Uchiyama - Loving known within the industry as 'Uchy' started his career in 1984 at Wood Gundy in trade support. In the years that followed he moved on to become a floor clerk and then a member of the institutional team covering US accounts. The memory of the 1987 crash stands out to Greg as one of the most unforgettable experiences of his career and helped shape him as a trader. In 1991, Greg joined Deacon BZW where he worked until he teamed up with Newcrest in 1996. In 2000, the punchy boutique was scooped up by TD and Greg along with it. For the next 20 years, Greg successfully navigated the markets on behalf of his clients as a senior partner on TD Institutional Trading Desk. Greg is one of the founding members of the CSTA. He served as its first secretary and has also held a similar role within the IETA. Over the years Greg has been a huge supporter of the CSTA and its annual conference. Greg has always been viewed as the gold standard of client coverage in Canada. As both a fiduciary and a facilitator, he's been recognized many times by his peers as a Top Gun trader in Canada.

2019 Honoree Nick Thadaney - Over his career, Nick has held many senior roles within the Canadian investment industry. He was the President of the TMX and CEO of ITG Canada. Prior to that he served in various senior positions at First Canada and TD Securities. He has acted as a board member for IIROC, Toronto Financial Services Alliance and CanDeal. Nick has been a member of the IETA since the mid-90’s and has chaired the CSTA. In his time with the CSTA, Nick helped focus the organization on education and enriching its content.
